At Harbour Veterinary Clinic, we believe that every pet deserves compassionate, affordable, and professional care—no matter their family’s circumstances. What began as the Spay & Neuter Cruiser, a mobile clinic tackling the cat overpopulation crisis, has grown into a full-service veterinary clinic serving families across Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island.
We are operated by the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee (IBKC) charity, which means every visit to Harbour Vet helps support rescue work in our community: caring for abandoned animals, preventing unwanted litters, and keeping veterinary care accessible for families in need.
Our team of skilled veterinary professionals offers a full range of services, from spay/neuter and preventative care to diagnostics, surgery, and treatment for illness or injury. While our scope has grown, our purpose has not changed: to deliver safe, compassionate, and budget-friendly veterinary care that strengthens the bond between people and their pets, while also giving back to the community.
When you choose Harbour Vet, you’re not just caring for your own pet—you’re helping create a healthier, kinder future for animals across Vancouver Island.
Dr. Heidi Hendrickson – DVM

Dr. Heidi Hendrickson was born and raised in Seattle and decided to move north to Victoria in April 2025. She graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She has been working in the high volume/high quality spay and neuter clinics and the shelter medicine field for over 10 years. She loves performing high volume spay and neuter surgeries (and other surgeries) and loves working with feral cats and rescues.
When not in the clinic, Heidi enjoys gardening, reading, hanging out with her two cats (Rufus and Karlos) or exploring Vancouver island with her husband Joe.
Dr. Daniel Just, DVM

Dr. Danny Just grew up in Maine and moved to Los Angeles in 2008. There he worked as an RVT before attending veterinary school at Western University for Health Sciences. Dr Just worked in both private practice and High Volume Sapy and Neuter before coming to Victoria to join the team at Harbour. When not in the clinic Danny enjoys hiking, bouldering, knitting, and being bossed around by his cats Zelda and Tissaia.
Kristie, Registered Vet Tech

Kristie brings a uniquely blended background to Harbour Vet, pairing a UBC English Literature degree with more than a decade of hands-on experience across the veterinary field. Her work has taken her through Orthopedics, ICU, Feline-Only practice, and even the demanding standards of Large Animal Research, giving her an exceptional foundation in both technical skill and patient care. She also spent several years in Turks and Caicos working in rescue medicine, where she deepened her commitment to accessible, compassionate veterinary support.
When she’s not caring for patients, Kristie balances her life with her husband Mark, Caribbean rescue cat Gary, the intrepid three-legged adventurer, and his new trusty side-kick, Kevin.
Laura, Registered Vet Tech

Laura graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Thompson Rivers University in 2002 and has been working as a tech in Victoria ever since. With over two decades of experience, she brings a calm, confident presence to our clinic and a soft spot for anything feline.
She began her career at a cats-only veterinary hospital, where she honed her expertise in low-stress handling of felines. Since then, she’s broadened her skillset in small animal practice, caring for dogs, cats, and the occasional exotic with equal care and compassion.
When she’s not at the clinic, Laura is likely out running, recharging in the fresh air or at home, surrounded by her four beloved cats who run the household.
Whether she’s monitoring anesthesia, comforting a nervous patient, or swapping trail running stories between monitoring surgeries, Laura brings energy and compassion to everything she does.
Dustin, Reception & Vet Assistant

Dustin is one of the newest members of our team, bringing fresh knowledge and a strong passion for animal care. A recent graduate of the Veterinary Assistant program at Sprott Shaw College, he’s excited to put his training into practice and continue learning from hands-on experience every day.
Known for his friendly nature and willingness to jump in wherever he’s needed, Dustin has quickly become a valued part of the clinic. His enthusiasm for helping both pets and their families makes him a wonderful addition to our community-focused team.
Abby, Reception & Vet Assistant

With more than 10 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Abby brings both expertise and empathy to her work every day. Living on a farm surrounded by animals—including her two beloved horses—she has built her life around caring for creatures big and small.
Abby has a particular soft spot for cats who need a little extra help. She often opens her home to sick or fragile rescue cats, giving them the round-the-clock care they need to recover and thrive. Her deep well of compassion, combined with years of hands-on knowledge, makes her a trusted caregiver and a steady presence in the clinic.
Whether she’s supporting clients, assisting in treatment, or nursing a fragile rescue back to health, Abby embodies the heart of veterinary medicine: dedication, kindness, and care.
Carmen , Reception & Vet Assistant

Carmen brings a Biology degree from the University of Victoria and hands-on experience working with marine animals to our care team. She’s calm, curious, and detail-oriented—equally at home monitoring a recovering patient as she is helping clients at the front desk. Off-duty, Carmen plays volleyball any chance she gets and goes home to her cat, Bee, who supervises all study breaks and snack times.
Mara, Receptionist

Mara is often the first hello at Harbour Vet—quick to smile, ready to help, and great at making the front desk feel easy and approachable. She’s the one juggling the details, answering questions, and helping each visit flow smoothly so you and your pet feel supported from start to finish.
Outside the clinic, Mara is happiest doing “old lady stuff” in the best way: thrifting, browsing markets, checking out community events, and settling into a good coffee shop with a book (or planning her next walk and movie night). She also has a Boston Terrier named Bear—so yes, she’s every bit as obsessed with dogs as you’d hope our receptionist would be.
